Mike is a senior partner with over 25 years of legal experience. He received the highest grades in his class for 10% of his entire law school curriculum. While in law school, he was permitted to try a felony burglary jury trial, and argued an attempted murder case before the Louisiana Supreme Court. After graduation, Mike passed the Texas bar exam and began practicing in Midland, Texas, where his firm added his name to the firm name after only four months. Mr. Lockwood was later admitted to the Western District of the United States District Court and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
In January 1985, Mike became employed by Babb & Hanna, P.C., in Austin and within six months was named the department head for collections and bankruptcy department and later named the head of the litigation department. Then in 1990, Kirt and Mike formed the partnership of Kiester & Lockwood.
Currently Mike handles all types of civil matters, but focuses most of his practice in the area of business and construction law. He represents several high-end custom home builders such as Skirrow Custom Homes, Inc., Skirrow Design, Inc., and Sierra Custom Homes L.L.C., and also several commercial contractors including Capital Excavations, Inc., Solis Constructors, L.P., Four Corners Construction L.P., Westport Group, Inc., and Capital Pumps, L.P. Additionally, Mr. Lockwood serves as corporate counsel for Consolidated Metal Technologies, L.L.C., a large manufacturing entity in Round Rock, Texas.
Mike also represents both homebuyers and builders involved in residential construction defect disputes. He is experienced in both navigating the SIRP process with the Texas Residential Construction Commission and the subsequent litigation.
Mr. Lockwood regularly represents project owners, developers, homeowners, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and design professionals.
